Esashi Fujiwara-no-Sato (Fujiwara Heritage Park)

Esashi Fujiwara-no-Sato (Fujiwara Heritage Park) is a huge historic park where architecture back in the days when the Oshu Fujiwara clan flourished for four generations in the Heian era has been re-created. The construction of this park was completed in 1993. Hiraizumi's golden culture created by the Fujiwara clan has been faithfully reproduced by studying historical evidence in details. In an extensive premise of 20ha, approximately 123 buildings can be found including the governmental center, Kiyohira's (first Oshu Fujiwara lord) residence, Garan-style palace and garden made in the Shinden-zukuri form, Chuson Temple's Konjikido (golden hall) without an Oido, and the townscape of those times.
